Dentists ask PCB to lower biomedical waste fees

Hyderabad: The All India Dental Students and Surgeons Association (AIDSSA) is asking the Pollution Control Board to review and adjust the fees for handling biomedical waste in dental clinics across the state.

AIDSSA members recently met with G Ravi, the Member Secretary of the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB). They requested immediate action to make the biomedical waste management fees fair for dental clinics throughout the state.

The Association expressed concerns about the high and unfair fees charged by authorized waste collection agencies. They argued that small and medium-sized dental clinics produce much less waste than hospitals or large medical facilities. Yet, these clinics face the same high charges, which is a heavy financial strain, especially for new practices.
