Hyderabad: Telangana's top police officer, Dr. Jitender, emphasized the state’s strong stance against drugs. He encouraged cooperation among various agencies to tackle the drug problem. This message was delivered at a key meeting called ‘Convergence’ on Thursday. The meeting included drug enforcement officials from Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, and other central and state organizations.
Participants discussed several important topics. They focused on current drug trends, intelligence sharing, financial investigations, and how technology can aid their efforts. A significant part of the meeting was developing a united plan to fight illegal drug activities.
The attendees aimed to understand the latest regional drug trafficking trends and potential threats. They worked on improving intelligence sharing and coordination between different states.
Joint operations and better field enforcement were also on the agenda. They discussed enhancing regional capacity with shared training, using advanced tools, and following legal best practices. An important result was creating a structured inter-state action plan, with specific officers assigned and review systems in place.
Sandeep Shandilya, Director of TGANB, shared insights on drug trafficking in Telangana. He urged delegates to exchange information on inter-state drug cases. He also suggested that drug users should be identified and directed to de-addiction centers, as per Section 64(A) of the NDPS Act.
