Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, along with the Sultan Bazar police, uncovered an organized cricket betting racket. They arrested a person named Vikas Jain, who was working as a collection agent. The arrest took place at Wall Street Apartment on MJ Market road. The police seized Rs 8 lakh, a mobile phone, a bike, and a counting machine from him.

Vikas Jain, aged 41, was working as a collection agent for a betting organization called Majestic Pride, based in Goa. According to the police, Vikas was collecting betting amounts and receiving illegal commissions for his work. The betting was being done through an online app called http://luckystar123.in, which allowed people to place bets on ongoing cricket matches. The main organizers of the racket were operating from Goa and had appointed Vikas to handle collections in Hyderabad.

The police revealed that the main organizers, including people named Vikram and Sagar, were running the online betting operation for both cricket matches and casino games. Vikas was in regular contact with them through WhatsApp. He was tasked with collecting money from punters and customers in Hyderabad and sending it to the winners or other participants.

According to YVS Sudheendra, DCP of the Task Force, Vikas was in touch with about 20 to 35 punters from different states who were betting on live cricket matches. The punters were sending money to Vikas either in cash or through online payment methods such as Google Pay and PhonePe.
