Hyderabad: The Justice Ghose Commission, which is investigating the Kaleshwaram project, has decided to take legal action against officials who failed to provide necessary information during the investigation into the recent damage at Medigadda. The Commission is serious about this issue and may recommend that the state government take disciplinary action against these officials under the Prevention of Corruption Act. This could include stopping their promotions.
According to sources, Justice Ghose was unhappy with the lack of proper information provided by irrigation officials during an open house inquiry. Some of these officials even gave information that contradicted their earlier statements. The Commission is planning to make a final decision on these errors and recommend suitable action to the government.
In the meantime, the Commission is getting ready to question around 40 officials from the irrigation department. These officials were involved in working at the Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages, and the questioning will begin on Tuesday.
The investigation is also looking into financial matters. Officials from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) department and State Accounts Officers, who were part of the project, will be called in for questioning. The Commission will compare the financial details provided by these officers with the information already in the CAG’s report. Additionally, the Commission may ask for auditing records and other documents from the CAG during the inquiry. The Vigilance Department will also be asked to submit its final report on the Medigadda damage.
