Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has accused Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar of breaking election rules ahead of the Hyderabad local body MLC elections. He said Bandi Sanjay made provocative statements and that he plans to complain to the Election Commission (EC) about it.

Speaking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, Ponnam criticized Bandi Sanjay for urging ‘Hindutva’ supporters to vote for the BJP. He said such remarks were meant to divide voters based on religion.

Ponnam warned that this kind of campaigning goes against the values of democracy and the Constitution. He said the Congress party will ask the EC to take action against the BJP leader.

He also explained that the MLC constituency in Hyderabad has only 112 votes. The MIM party holds 50 of those, which is the largest share. BJP and BRS each have 24 votes, while Congress has 14. Since BRS is boycotting the election, Ponnam said the BJP’s religious appeals are not only wrong but also pointless.
