Hyderabad: The Press Information Bureau (PIB) in Hyderabad, part of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, held a workshop called ‘Vartalap’ at CGO Towers, Kavadiguda, Hyderabad. This event focused on addressing challenges faced by publishers. Yogesh Baweja, the Press Registrar General of India, spoke about the new Press Sewa Portal, designed to streamline the registration process. This portal aims to make approvals quicker and business operations smoother for publishers.
Shruti Patil, Additional Director General of PIB Hyderabad, mentioned that this was the first session of its kind in Telangana. It was meant to help publishers understand the new PRP Act and answer their questions. She also announced a future helpline for publishers, supported by PRGI.
Ashutosh Mohle, Deputy Press Registrar, explained the new Act, noting that since March 2024, registrations have been online. If no response is received within 60 days, applications are automatically approved. He suggested publishers use the PRGI portal directly instead of relying on agents. Gourav Sharma, Assistant Director of NIC, conducted a live demonstration of the portal.
Publishers from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh took part in the session. Several PIB officials, including Dr Manas Krishna Kanth, Deputy Director, alongside Media and Communication Officers Gayathri and Shivacharan Reddy, and I&PR officials, also attended.
