BJP Telangana State President N. Ramachander Rao visited the families on Monday, offering his condolences. Among the deceased were Krishna Yadav and Suresh Yadav, whose bodies were returned from the hospital.
This unfortunate event happened during a festive procession on Sunday night in the Uppal Assembly constituency. A sudden electric shock hit the participants, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries. The community, still in shock, received support from political leaders who expressed deep sorrow and urged for immediate measures.
Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy expressed his sorrow, initially noting the loss of five youths. He stated, “I deeply sympathize with the families and hope for the quick recovery of the injured.” He called on the state to ensure festival organizers and authorities implement strict safety measures and provide quick assistance to the affected families.
The death toll later rose to six, raising concerns about safety during public events. Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender expressed his grief, saying, “It’s tragic that six people died during the Sri Krishna Janmashtami procession. My condolences to the families.”
Rajender insisted on proper compensation and support for the families. He stressed the importance of the government taking proactive measures to prevent such incidents. “We urge the public to stay alert and cautious during such events,” he added.
Witnesses and locals described the scene as chaotic and distressing. Emergency services arrived promptly to aid the injured and manage the situation. This tragedy has sparked discussions on public safety, particularly during large religious and cultural events.
As investigations proceed, political figures and civil groups demand a thorough review of safety protocols and accountability. This incident has overshadowed what was meant to be a joyful celebration, leaving a community in mourning and highlighting the need for urgent safety reforms.
