Asifabad: Tribals are protesting against the government’s plan to create a Tiger Zone for forest conservation. Initially, their actions involved peaceful demonstrations like dharnas and blocking roads. However, these protests are becoming more intense, causing challenges for the government. On Monday, tribal groups organized a complete shutdown in the agency area. To ensure the protests remain peaceful, the government has instructed police to be vigilant. Reports suggest that ruling party leaders are worried about how this issue might affect their chances in upcoming local elections, especially when seeking votes from thousands of tribal villages.
In May, the government issued GO 49, which incorporated 339 villages into the Tiger Zone. This decision has angered tribal communities, who believe it’s a move to push them out of the forests. In response, they have started a movement against the establishment of the Tiger Zone. Public support for this movement is growing steadily.
