Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Special Operation Teams from the LB Nagar zone, along with Abdullapurmet police, caught two drug traffickers on Wednesday. They seized 20 kg of hashish oil valued at Rs 1.20 crore.
The police arrested Pangi Keshava Rao (40) from Ramaraju District, Andhra Pradesh and Jairam Khemundu (26) from Koraput District, Odisha. They also confiscated three mobile phones and Rs 870 in cash.
These two were friends who turned to drug trafficking for quick money. They obtained hashish oil from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, using Hyderabad as a transit point to supply it to Bengaluru buyers.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu stated that their investigation pointed to Krishna from Alluri Sita Ramaraju District, Andhra Pradesh as the main source. Krishna, a childhood friend of Keshava, introduced him to this illegal trade for high profits. Krishna is currently on the run.
Jairam later got involved after meeting Krishna. Keshava had a prior arrest related to drugs by the Anakapally Town Police in Andhra Pradesh.
The accused bought hashish oil at low prices and sold it in Bengaluru for about ten times the cost. Producing 1 kg of hashish oil requires around 35 to 40 kg of ganja.
Two days before their arrest, a Bengaluru buyer ordered 20 kg of hashish oil. The accused acquired the oil from Krishna in Hukumpeta, Alluri Sita Ramaraju District, Andhra Pradesh, and reached the outskirts of Hyderabad to sell it to the buyer from Bengaluru.
