Hyderabad: N Ramchander Rao, President of BJP Telangana, shared a plan for fair industrial growth across Telangana at a meeting with the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) on Wednesday. He emphasized that development shouldn’t just focus on Hyderabad but should also extend to smaller cities for balanced progress.

Rao discussed India’s journey since independence, highlighting how the country moved from relying on foreign aid to becoming a major exporter of quality agricultural goods. “Now, we are not only self-sufficient but also help other countries,” he stated.

He mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of a “developed India by 2047,” which is leading to significant reforms and industrial growth. Addressing claims that the BJP favors corporates, Rao argued that corporate involvement is essential for industrial development. He noted the global success of Indian professionals in sectors like science, medicine, and business in the United States, Africa, and the United Kingdom.

However, Rao acknowledged the lack of similar spirit within India for a long time and stressed the need to investigate and resolve this issue.

To tackle this, he highlighted central initiatives such as Startup India, Standup India, and Make in India. He noted that these programs, along with low-interest Mudra loans, are changing the entrepreneurial scene. Yet, he raised concerns over inadequate loan distribution by banks and urged better management. “The MSME sector is key for employment and needs strong support,” he stressed.

Though Telangana has favorable conditions for industrial growth around Hyderabad, Rao encouraged spreading development throughout the state. He mentioned plans for a regional ring road and a circular rail network to support decentralization and limit urban migration.

On employment, Rao advised young people to consider self-employment over government jobs, aligning with PM Modi’s call to be “job creators.” He identified opportunities in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and cellphone manufacturing, supported by central policies. He pointed to the success of firms like Tata-Boeing as proof of India’s growing industrial strength.

Rao also praised the Jan Dhan Yojana for broadening bank access and enabling direct benefit transfers. “Every rupee goes straight to citizens—no intermediaries involved,” he said, contrasting it with past systems where only a small portion of funds reached the people.

Rao acknowledged ongoing challenges in industrial growth and invited input from business leaders to improve policies. “We are committed to bringing your ideas to the Centre for positive change,” he assured.
