Hyderabad: N Ramchandra Rao, head of the BJP Telangana unit, took charge on July 5. His main focus is to strengthen the party across the state in urban, rural, tribal, and backward areas, aligning with the party’s aim for growth throughout Telangana.
In a chat with The Hans India, Rao explained the shift from being seen as an urban-focused party. “We’re now building a strong organization from the ground up to grow evenly across the state,” he said.
The party has formed booth committees in over 25,000 of the nearly 30,000 polling booths. Rao emphasized that their 40-lakh membership is key to boosting the party’s structure before local elections.
Addressing internal differences, Rao noted that diversity increases with expansion. “Differences are normal as we grow. We’re bringing leaders from different backgrounds together and resolving issues quickly,” he said, dismissing media claims of bias between new and old members.
Rao firmly denied any discrimination against new members, stating that all members receive equal respect. “Some Congress and BRS leaders spread false rumors of bias, causing media speculation. We don’t operate like that,” he urged the media to focus on the party’s inclusive nature.
On ideological differences, some prioritize the Hindutva doctrine, while others focus on involving youth. Rao stated, “Hindutva is a core value, but we also want to bring ambitious youth into politics to lead the country forward.”
Rao acknowledged reported differences between two top state leaders: “Both are national and mass leaders. The party aims to resolve this soon,” he said.
He emphasized unity, discipline, and clarity in the party. “Every party worker, new or experienced, should uphold our core values. Our main goal is organizational harmony and electoral success,” he added.
Rao clarified there would be no alliance with the BRS, attributing rumors to Congress and BRS trying to hinder BJP’s growing popularity in their areas.
