    Hyderabad: The number of deaths in the Sigachi Industries explosion at Pashamylaram rose to 36 by Tuesday. Police have filed a case against the factory’s management.

    The blast at this chemical factory in Sangareddy district has shocked the entire state. Initially, 15 deaths were reported on Monday, but by the next day, the toll increased to 36.

    Sangareddy District Collector P Pravinya reported that 36 workers have died, and 35 others are in hospitals, with seven in critical condition. Nine injured workers are at Dhruva Hospital, where seven require intensive care.

    At the explosion time, 143 workers were present. Most victims were from Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh. Fortunately, 57 rescued workers have returned home safely.

    Rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), HYDRAA, and the Telangana Fire Disaster Response Department, worked tirelessly overnight to find survivors. There are fears more people might be trapped under the rubble.

    Investigations into the blast’s cause continue. A high-level committee, led by Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, is overseeing relief efforts, ensuring quick support for affected families.

    Meanwhile, Sangareddy police filed a case against the factory under sections related to severe injury and culpable homicide. Sangareddy Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj confirmed the toll and stressed ongoing rescue operations. An inquiry is on to find the cause and responsible parties.

    The Telangana Human Rights Commission is also looking into the incident. They are concerned about safety and labor rights issues. Notices have been sent to the District Collector, Commissioner of Labour, Director General of Fire Services, and Superintendent of Police for detailed reports by July 30.
