The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted searches at various locations linked to TS Uma Maheshwar Rao, ACP of Hyderabad Central Crime Station, for allegedly possessing assets beyond his known sources of income. Uma Maheshwar Rao is the Chief Special Officer investigating the Sahithi Infra case, a multi-crore fraud.
ACB officials also searched ten different places, including properties of the official’s friends and family in the city. The ACP is accused of corruption during his previous role as ACP Ibrahimpatnam, with allegations of accepting large sums of money in land disputes.
In the Sahithi Infra case, there were claims of money being collected from the accused, along with complaints that he supported them. During the searches, ACB officials seized a significant amount of cash and gold, and identified bank lockers belonging to Uma Maheshwar Rao.
ACB officers are investigating allegations of illicit wealth accumulation by the officer, as his assets are disproportionate to his income. The investigation includes searching residences of his family and friends in the city. The ACB officials are acting on complaints received regarding Uma Maheshwar Rao’s alleged accumulation of assets beyond his income.
