Hyderabad: SEI, a global leader in technology and investment solutions, is considering setting up a Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad. This new center aims to create highly skilled engineering and financial jobs over the next three years. It also supports Telangana’s goal of becoming a global hub for the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector.

The State Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, and Industries Minister, Duddila Sridhar Babu, previously announced that the state government is in talks with SEI about this project. The proposed GCC would help boost the region’s economic and technological growth.

Sridhar Babu recently met with SEI’s senior leadership, including Zachary Womack, Global Chief Technology Officer, and David Langdale, Global Head of Operations. Other key SEI leaders at the meeting included Deepak Bhardwaj, Chief Data Officer, and Meenakshi Meel, Head of Development for SEI’s Private Banking and Wealth Management division. The discussion focused on the benefits the GCC could bring to Hyderabad.

The Minister said that Telangana’s skilled workforce in the financial sector is one of the main reasons global BFSI companies are choosing Hyderabad. The city already hosts important global capability centers for top companies like Bank of America, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Wells Fargo.

To further develop local talent, Telangana is working with SEI through the Young India Skill University’s BFSI programme. This partnership aims to provide more global opportunities for the state’s workforce. Sridhar Babu expressed gratitude for SEI’s interest in Telangana, highlighting the state’s readiness for future growth.

SEI has a global workforce of about 5,000 employees in technology, operations, and asset management. The company sees Hyderabad as a strategic location for expanding its operations. David Langdale commented that Hyderabad’s rich talent pool, modern infrastructure, and supportive business environment make it an attractive choice for their new GCC. He also noted that the center would play a crucial role in advancing SEI’s global digital engineering strategy.

The potential GCC reflects Telangana’s commitment to growing its BFSI ecosystem by attracting international firms and nurturing local talent.
