Hyderabad – The Women Safety Wing of Hyderabad Police recently held a special counselling session focused on changing the behavior of people involved in harassment cases. Dr. Lavanya NJP, Deputy Commissioner of Police, led the session and warned participants about the harmful effects of alcohol, drugs, and smoking. She stressed that these substances can cloud judgment and lead to actions that people often regret later.
The event brought together 304 individuals, including 289 people accused of harassment—of which 271 were adults and 18 were minors—along with 15 parents or guardians of those minors.
This initiative was organized by SHE Teams, in partnership with Mano Jagruthi, a local NGO. The goal was to raise awareness and guide offenders toward positive change. The participants had been caught harassing women between January and April 2025.
A team of professional psychiatrists from Mano Jagruthi, including Dr. Geetha Challa, Kairi Thrinath Goud, Swathina Shasi, S. Srilatha, and Syed Abeeda Begum, led the sessions. They focused on topics like emotional control, legal consequences, and respectful behavior in public spaces.
During her talk, Dr. Lavanya shared a story about delayed gratification, explaining how patience and self-discipline can lead to long-term success. She encouraged the attendees to make smart life choices and stay away from bad influences.
Some participants opened up during the session. They admitted their mistakes and shared how their actions had hurt their families and strained relationships. Many expressed gratitude to SHE Teams for giving them a chance to reflect and change.
The session also highlighted online safety. SHE Teams warned the public about fake online profiles used by scammers to build trust and deceive people. They advised everyone to verify identities before interacting with strangers on the internet.
Anyone who needs help or wants to report harassment can contact SHE Teams by dialing 100 or sending a message on WhatsApp at 9490616555.
