Kothagudem: The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has rehired 43 Junior Mining Engineer Trainees (JMETs) who were previously let go for various administrative reasons. This decision was made after directions from Chairman and Managing Director N Balram following a recent agreement.
The reinstatement happened after an agreement between the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner, Singareni management, and the Singareni Collieries Workers Union (AITUC). This agreement allows trainees, previously dismissed for issues like unauthorized absence and not submitting required documents, to have another chance.
The official statement mentions that these JMETs will now be considered as new hires. They must present themselves to a high-power committee set up by the company to verify essential credentials such as the Overman Certificate, Gas Testing, and First Aid certificates.
After successful verification, they need to pass medical fitness exams. Only then will they receive provisional appointment orders.
Each trainee must complete at least 190 muster days in their first year of service. Balram noted that trainees terminated before July 24, 2025, under 45 years old, and meeting all criteria, will soon return as JMETs in T&S Grade-C.
