Hyderabad: Stanford University, one of the oldest institutions in the world, is set to collaborate with the Telangana government on bio-design and healthcare innovation. The university plans to establish a Life Sciences University in the state.
A delegation led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, along with Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, held a meeting with senior members of the Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign in California. The primary focus of the meeting was to explore collaborations in healthcare innovation, education, and skill development.
During the discussions, both parties explored areas of mutual interest, such as partnerships for the upcoming Young India Skills University and the new Life Sciences University in Telangana. They also discussed how to incorporate Stanford’s renowned bio-design innovation process into Telangana’s academic and healthcare systems.
Dr. Anurag Mairal and Dr. Josh Makower from the Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign expressed their interest in working with the Telangana government. Dr. Makower acknowledged the state’s commitment to fostering a large medical device industry, which promises high-value job opportunities through education, innovation, and manufacturing support.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy shared his vision for the partnership, stating that Telangana is a leader in innovation and industry in India. By collaborating with Stanford, the state aims to equip its youth with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the fast-changing healthcare sector. He emphasized that this partnership would not only benefit Telangana but also contribute to global healthcare solutions.
The meeting also included discussions on knowledge exchange programs, joint research projects, and the potential establishment of a satellite center for Stanford Bio-design in Telangana.
In related news, Zoetis Inc., a global leader in animal health, announced the expansion of its Zoetis India Capability Center in Hyderabad. This expansion aims to advance the company’s innovative technology portfolio.
The Chief Minister welcomed the expansion, noting that it would enhance animal health. Anil Raghav, Vice President and Head of the Zoetis India Capability Center, mentioned that the center would leverage Hyderabad’s world-class talent to drive innovation and ensure sustainable growth, benefiting both Zoetis and the region.
