Hyderabad is working to fix streetlights faster. Many people and local leaders have complained about broken lights. To prevent accidents, especially during the rainy season, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) wants to solve this issue quickly.
On Thursday, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan met with key officials to discuss streetlight problems, sanitation, mosquito control, and tax collection. He asked Zonal Commissioners to check the problems in the evening and find solutions.
RV Karnan told officers to use staff and resources wisely to avoid future issues. Zonal and Deputy Commissioners and Electrical Engineers need to visit areas with complaints and fix problems fast.
The commissioner also stressed keeping the city clean during the rainy season to stop diseases. They need to keep fogging to fight dengue and malaria. Awareness programs should be conducted in schools and colleges.
Progress on desilting has been slow. Zonal Commissioners must work with the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) to speed up these efforts.
