Telangana’s cabinet will meet on July 14 in the Thungathurthy constituency to discuss several important topics. One key issue on the agenda is introducing a 42% quota for Backward Classes (BCs). The cabinet will also address preparations for the upcoming local body elections, following a high court directive to complete these polls by September 30.
The Chief Minister will consider feedback from his cabinet and legal experts about whether the government can issue a government order to extend the quota for BCs. This move aims to fulfill promises made to the community.
In terms of welfare, the government plans to resolve the pending distribution of new ration cards. The Civil Supplies Department is already verifying applications submitted online and manually by eligible citizens.
The cabinet will also focus on strategies for irrigation during the current kharif season. Due to varying water levels in the Krishna and Godavari river basins, as well as the Kaleshwaram project, decisions will be made about releasing water from the Medigadda barrage to support farmers’ demands.
Another significant topic is revenue generation. The Revenue and Stamps & Registration Department has proposed increasing the market value of land, particularly within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Hyderabad. They also suggest revising stamp duties to boost government income, impacting property transactions in the region.
