The Telangana State government has decided to file a complaint with the Central Government and the Central Water Commission (CWC) regarding Andhra Pradesh’s excessive use of Krishna River water. The state is also upset that Andhra Pradesh has not paid its share of funds for installing a telemetry system to monitor water usage.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, frustrated by the delay, instructed irrigation officials to write to the Centre, urging them to implement the telemetry system. In a review meeting with Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and other officials, the CM stressed that this system is essential to ensure Andhra Pradesh does not exceed its allocated water quota.

Officials informed the CM that Andhra Pradesh has not been cooperating in paying its share for the system’s installation. In response, Revanth Reddy directed Principal Secretary (Irrigation) Rahul Bojja to immediately write to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB), highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s lack of cooperation and requesting necessary action.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that the Central Water Commission is responsible for allocating water between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and ensuring proper monitoring of usage. He instructed officials to formally complain to the Union Government about Andhra Pradesh’s unilateral diversion of Krishna water. Revanth Reddy urged the Centre to step in and prevent Andhra Pradesh from exceeding its allocated share.
