Hyderabad – After a recent reshuffle of top IAS officers, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is now preparing for a major revamp of the state police department and district administration. Changes are also expected at the Secretariat, according to reliable sources.
Officials say the Chief Minister is reviewing the performance of key officers, including District Collectors, Superintendents of Police (SPs), Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), and department Secretaries. A list of underperforming officials has already been created. The Chief Minister's Office (CMO) is now identifying capable officers to take over these crucial roles.
Revanth Reddy’s goal is to streamline administration from the state level down to villages. He wants government welfare schemes to reach those in need faster and development projects to be completed without delays.
Three newly-appointed IAS officers – TK Sreedevi, K Shashanka, and EV Narasimha Reddy – have been assigned a key role in the Municipal Administration department. They are tasked with speeding up major infrastructure projects, especially the Future City and Musi River Rejuvenation initiatives. The CM has asked them to work as a team and meet the deadlines.
More appointments are expected in departments like Panchayat Raj, Education, and Medical & Health. These moves are designed to improve basic services in villages and strengthen the education and healthcare systems. District officials will be given clear timelines starting in May to implement and monitor all welfare programs.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, who is set to retire on April 30, will take on a new role as Vice Chairman of the Dr MCR HRD Institute. She will oversee the execution of welfare schemes and monitor the performance of district administrations.
Some officers within the CMO are also being transferred. Senior IAS officer Jayesh Ranjan has already been moved to the CMO’s investment cell.
The state’s police force is also under review. Intelligence reports have pointed to poor handling of recent events, including unrest at the University of Hyderabad (HCU) over Kancha Gachibowli lands and surprise protests by Opposition leaders across districts. The CM is reportedly unhappy with how these situations were managed.
A reshuffle of senior police officials is expected soon. The government is looking for skilled officers who can respond effectively to public disturbances and political unrest.
These sweeping changes reflect the CM’s determination to build a more efficient and responsive administration across Telangana.
