Gadwal: The Telangana State Government has set a bold target to make one crore women millionaires. Minister Vakkati Srihari, responsible for Animal Husbandry, Sports, and Youth Services, shared this vision as part of their empowerment strategy.
At a gathering near Alampur Crossroads on Thursday, Minister Srihari joined District Collector B.Y. Santosh and Alampur MLA Vijay for the “Indira Mahila Shakti” and Ration Card Distribution event. The ceremony began with a lamp lighting.
The minister highlighted the government’s dedication to women’s welfare since Telangana’s new governance began. He stated, “We design every welfare initiative with women in mind, putting them at the forefront.”
Some key achievements include:
- Kalyana Lakshmi cheques are now given every three months instead of yearly.
- Interest-free loans of ₹3.15 crore have been issued to 2,600 women’s self-help groups.
- 3,500 Indiramma houses are being built in Alampur, costing ₹175 crore, ensuring a corruption-free process.
- 200 units of free electricity are provided each month for homes.
- Women are now running petrol pumps and own 1,000 buses, earning ₹59,000 monthly.
- Young India Integrated Schools are being established to enhance educational opportunities.
- New ration cards are distributed, and a unique fine rice scheme is in place.
Minister Srihari urged more women to join self-help groups and use government schemes to improve their financial standing. He noted that the government achieved six major promises in just 18 months.
Community halls are being built in the constituency to support the poor and marginalized. District Collector B.Y. Santosh praised the government for empowering women through successful programs like interest-free loans and job creation.
The state invests ₹3 crore in solar plants, petrol bunks, and bus ownership for women. He announced:
- Approval of 3 new ration cards for Alampur.
- Inclusion of 19,000 new names in the ration card system.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to use free fine rice wisely, with programs like Indiramma Housing and free bus travel accessible to all.
The Collector urged women to seize these opportunities for economic growth.
During the event:
- ₹30.58 crore in bank linkage loans were given to 2,041 women’s groups.
- ₹3.15 crore in interest-free loans were issued to 2,600 groups.
- Insurance cheques of ₹13.89 lakh were given to families of 23 deceased SHG members.
- New ration card orders were presented to eligible individuals.
Additionally, Blue Tongue disease vaccines were administered to sheep as part of a national program.
