Heavy rainfall has been predicted in Telangana starting today, according to the Meteorological Department. Several districts have already seen strong rains since Wednesday morning. Hyderabad and its surrounding areas are experiencing particularly severe weather, leading officials to advise people to stay inside unless they have urgent reasons to go out.
The forecast indicates that these heavy rains will continue in different parts of Telangana for the next four days. The north and northeast parts of the state are expected to receive very heavy rainfall. As a result, water levels in the Godavari River are rising, prompting the government to relocate people from flood-prone areas, especially river basins and low-lying regions.
Hyderabad has been dealing with daily rains of varying intensity, causing road congestion and delays. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed top officials to ensure that the public does not suffer unnecessarily due to the weather. In a recent meeting with district collectors, he emphasized that any negligence by authorities is unacceptable. He also called on the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), police, and disaster teams to stay alert and prevent the spread of waterborne diseases after the rains.
Traffic jams are likely to worsen in areas like Kukatpally, Ameerpet, Balanagar, and Panjagutta. Even light rain can halt vehicle movement. Frustrated commuters compare the traffic situation to being trapped like the mythological Abhimanyu in the Padma Vayuham. Calls for help to emergency services face delays as operators try to find the correct police station for traffic issues.
Given the expected weather, drivers are advised to use alternate routes and avoid unnecessary travel. Officials continue to emphasize the importance of staying safe and off the roads during this dangerous weather period.
