Gaddam Prasad Kumar, the Speaker of the Telangana State Legislative Assembly, provided housing documents to 613 people under the Indiramma House scheme. This event took place at the Vikarabad MLA Camp Office and aims to offer homes to those in need in Vikarabad town and its mandal.
The gathering included District Collector Prateek Jain, Additional Collector Sudhir, public representatives, officials, and the beneficiaries. The plan involves 359 houses for Vikarabad town and 254 for the mandal.
Prasad Kumar congratulated the women beneficiaries and praised former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for her efforts to house the poor. He emphasized the current government’s dedication to this cause under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
He encouraged recipients to start building right away. Funds will be sent directly to their bank accounts in four installments, each worth one lakh rupees, to prevent any interference by middlemen.
This year, Telangana's government is committing ₹22,500 crores to construct 450,000 houses. Vikarabad is set to receive 7,000 of these homes.
Prasad Kumar criticized the previous administration for leaving behind significant debt, which has delayed housing solutions. He called it a “government of words” and praised the current one for its actions.
He also highlighted other welfare efforts, like distributing fine rice to 90 lakh families, waiving loans for 2.5 million farmers, and providing free electricity to low-income homes. Additionally, ₹1,000 crores will soon support farmers for the monsoon season.
He assured Vikarabad’s development, mentioning plans for CC roads, new industrial parks, and making Ananthagiri a tourist hotspot. He ended by cautioning the public about misleading claims from the former ruling party, stressing the importance of responsible governance.
