New Delhi: Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair praised the Telangana government’s “Telangana Rising 2047” plan, calling it a model for inclusive and sustainable growth. He met with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in New Delhi to discuss potential collaborations.
Blair, who now leads the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBIGC), a think tank aiding governments in development, is currently visiting India. He explored how TBIGC could help Telangana achieve its long-term goals.
During their meeting, CM Revanth Reddy outlined the “Telangana Rising 2047” vision, which aims to make the state a leader in human-centric, equitable governance by 2047. The plan emphasizes rural and urban development, focusing on improving human development indicators.
Reddy explained that the initiative targets socio-economic empowerment for farmers, women, and youth. It uses data-driven governance for effective implementation. “We have a micro-plan tailored to urban, semi-urban, and rural needs to ensure sustainable growth for all Telangana citizens,” he said.
He announced the detailed plan will be unveiled on December 9, 2025, marking the administration’s second anniversary. This vision is meant to guide Telangana’s future for the next twenty years and beyond.
Tony Blair commended the plan’s breadth and inclusivity, noting its importance in today’s rapidly changing world. He showed interest in major projects under the framework, such as:
– Bharat Future City: A global hub of innovation and technology with smart urban planning.
– Young India Skills University: Aimed at equipping youth with future-ready skills.
– Young India Sports University: Focused on promoting athletic talent from the grassroots level.
Blair and Reddy exchanged a Letter of Intent, marking the start of a strategic partnership. TBIGC will offer strategic advice, policy design, and global governance practices to support the initiative’s success.
