Hyderabad witnessed a vibrant celebration as the Telugu Sangamam hosted its 10th annual Sankranti Sammelanam 2026 at Sri Mantra Convention. This event, focused on promoting the Telugu language, art, and heritage, marks another successful chapter for this cultural movement.
Started in 2017 by P. Muralidhar Rao, a BJP National Leader, the Telugu Sangamam has become a key national platform. It unites Telugu-speaking communities across India, emphasizing their cultural pride and identity. For nearly a decade, this festival in Hyderabad has symbolized the unity of Telugu people beyond their native regions.
The event began with spiritual blessings from Pujyashri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Sri Vidyaranya Bharathi Mahaswami, who highlighted the significance of Indian cultural values. Jupally Krishna Rao, Telangana’s Minister for Tourism & Culture, was the Chief Guest. He stressed the importance of preserving regional languages and traditions for future generations.
Bandi Sanjay, Minister of State for Home Affairs, praised the efforts of Telugu Sangamam in promoting cultural unity. Bandaru Dattatreya, former Governor of Haryana, spoke on the richness of the Telugu language and the need to share this heritage globally.
The event also featured Boyapati Srinu, a renowned Telugu film director, Dr. Bulusu Aparna, and Dr. Alla Srinivasa Reddy from the USA. P. Muralidhar Rao emphasized the importance of the Telugu language, noting its wide usage across India and its cultural significance.
The Sammelanam showcased diverse art forms like Kuchipudi and Perini Dance, alongside exhibitions of Telugu literature, traditional attire, and cuisine. Highlights included Gangireddula performances and a display of 360 varieties of paddy seeds.
Honors were given to Boyapati Srinu, Dr. Bulusu Aparna, and Dr. Alla Srinivasa Reddy by the Telugu Sangamam Organising Committee, with blessings from Pujyashri Vidyaranya Bharathi Mahaswami. Team members of Telugu Sangamam also received recognition.
Pujyashri Jagadguru Shankaracharya urged the audience to embrace Indian cultural values and traditions. Boyapati Srinu encouraged the Telugu community to promote their culture globally. Dr. Alla Srinivasa Reddy recited poems celebrating Telugu heritage.
The event saw participation from dignitaries such as MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, MP Raghunandana Rao, MLA Rakesh Reddy, and MLC Komaraiah. With over 2,000 attendees, the success of Sankranti Sammelanam 2026 reinforced Telugu Sangamam’s dedication to preserving and celebrating Telugu culture for future generations.
