Hyderabad marked World Thalassemia Day with a strong message of hope and unity. The Thalassemia & Sickle Cell Society (TSCS) led the celebrations on Thursday by meeting Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma. During the meeting, they urged his support in eliminating Thalassemia from the state.
The event followed the Thalassemia International Federation’s 2025 theme — “Together for Thalassemia: Uniting Communities, Prioritising Patients.” It focused on working together as a community and putting patients’ needs first.
The day kicked off with an awareness walk. Patients, families, and volunteers joined in large numbers to show their support. Their energy and unity set a positive tone for the rest of the day.
Later, Thalassemia patients performed cultural programs. Their performances reflected strength, talent, and the spirit of fighting the disease with courage and hope.
Dr. Chandrakant Agarwal, President of TSCS, shared the organization’s deep commitment to supporting Thalassemia patients. He emphasized that their goal is to improve lives through education, collaboration, and community involvement. “We are focused on empowering patients and pushing for better treatment and prevention,” he said.
TSCS continues to advocate for early detection, awareness, and stronger policies to control the spread of this genetic blood disorder in Telangana and beyond.
