Rangareddy, Telangana – A new land law called the Bhu Bharati Act, also known as the Record of Rights (RoR) Act, is set to bring major changes for farmers in Telangana. District Collector C. Narayan Reddy explained that this law was introduced to fix long-standing problems with land records, especially those related to the earlier Dharani system.
Speaking at a public awareness event in Abdullahpurmet, the Collector said the new law allows farmers to correct mistakes in their land records more easily. Under Section 4, Sub-sections 4 and 5, farmers can now request changes to their land details at the Tahsildar, RDO, and Collector levels.
Currently, the state is testing the new system in four mandals. If all goes well, it will be rolled out across all mandals starting in the first week of May. Farmers will have up to one year from the start date to submit their correction requests.
The Collector said more awareness events will be held in May and June. Officials will accept both in-person and online applications through the Bhu Bharati portal. This gives farmers a convenient way to report and fix land issues.
He stressed that all requests for land registration or mutation will be thoroughly checked. “Each case will go through a proper field survey and investigation before any changes are made,” Reddy said.
If farmers believe there were mistakes during registration or mutation, they can file an appeal. The Bhu Bharati Act includes a two-level appeal system. First, they can approach the Tahsildar. If unsatisfied, they can take the issue to the RDO within 60 days. If needed, they have another 30 days to escalate the matter to the Collector.
Ibrahimpatnam MLA Mal Reddy Rangareddy also addressed the gathering. He said the Telangana government created this law to solve land problems within a clear time frame, helping farmers who faced delays and confusion under the previous system.
To help farmers understand the process, officials gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation. It explained the rules and steps to follow under the new law, making it easier for them to take action.
With the launch of the Bhu Bharati Act, Telangana aims to bring transparency, speed, and accuracy to land record management—offering long-awaited relief to farmers across the state.
