Wanaparthy: Villagers in Veepanagandla mandal are frightened as crocodiles have been seen on roads at night between Veepanagandla–Govardhanagiri and Kalvarala–Veepanagandla. Farmers, shepherds, and drivers are worried about their safety.
The locals report that crocodiles are coming from Katva Lake near Veepanagandla–Govardhanagiri and nearby village ponds. These reptiles have lived in these waters for years and are now appearing on the roads at night. They have also been spotted near Venkateswara Bavi, a well between Kalvarala and Veepanagandla, where a stream flows.
When night falls, crocodiles move onto the roads, causing fear among residents and drivers. Villagers are concerned about accidental encounters that could lead to harm. They are asking forest officials to act quickly to manage and relocate the crocodiles.
