Hyderabad: After two days of intense talks with the Congress leaders, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy assigned roles to the new ministers on Wednesday night.
G Vivek Venkatswamy, a senior leader and Chennur MLA, received responsibilities for Labour, Employment, Training, Factories, Mining, and Geology. Adluri Laxman Kumar, elected from Dharmapuri Assembly Constituency, will manage SC, ST, Minority Welfare, and Departments for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens, and Transgender Persons. Previously, the Chief Minister handled all welfare, Labour, and Employment portfolios. Makthal MLA Vakiti Srihari is now the Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Fisheries, and Sports and Youth Services. An official announcement confirmed this, while the roles of existing ministers stayed the same.
Before revealing this news, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who recently returned to Hyderabad after visiting New Delhi for three days, met with Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to finalize these new roles.
Reports suggest the three ministers will assume their duties on Thursday.
Meanwhile, in an informal chat with the media in New Delhi before flying back, Revanth Reddy dismissed any talks about expanding the state Cabinet there. He said the focus was on the caste census in Karnataka, following Telangana‘s successful completion. He criticized K Chandrashekar Rao's family, calling them Telangana’s ‘enemy,’ and stated they have no place in Congress. Drawing parallels with a feud in the Telugu film ‘Assembly Rowdy,’ he vowed to keep them out of Congress. He accused BRS leaders of distracting media with their antics.
Revanth Reddy showed willingness to review projects with Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for Telangana’s benefit. While accusing Kishan Reddy of colluding with BRS, he claimed that the BJP leader harmed Telangana by blocking projects. He questioned why Kishan Reddy hadn’t discussed any Telangana issues with him as a Cabinet minister.
