Weekend trip ends in tragedy as 5 youths drown in reservoir

Tragic Drowning Incident in Siddipet Reservoir

A fun outing turned into a heartbreaking tragedy for a group of seven friends who visited Kondapochamma Sagar reservoir in Siddipet on Saturday. Five of them drowned while attempting to swim in the reservoir.

The group, hailing from Secunderabad, had traveled to Siddipet in the morning to spend some leisure time together. While exploring the reservoir, five friends entered the water to swim. Unfortunately, they drowned, while the other two remained on the bank, taking pictures.

The victims have been identified as Dhanush (20), Lohit (17), Dineshwar (17), Jatin (17), and Srinivas (17). Among them, Dhanush and Lohit were siblings. Rescue teams are working to recover their bodies.

Expressing his grief, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. He instructed district officials to take immediate action and deploy rescue measures. In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), he stated, “The tragic incident in Siddipet, where five youths drowned in Kondapochamma Sagar reservoir, is shocking. I have directed authorities to act swiftly and ensure lifeguards are deployed. My prayers are with the families, and I hope the departed souls find peace.”

Efforts are ongoing to ensure proper relief measures and prevent such incidents in the future.
