Hyderabad: Golla Sunita, a woman farmer from Sangareddy district, has won the hearts of many with her kind act. Despite coming from a poor background, she chose to leave her entire sunflower crop for birds to feed on. Her thoughtful gesture has been praised not only by her own village but also by people from nearby areas.

Sunita owns 28 guntas of land in Jharasangam mandal. She planted peanuts in 20 guntas and sunflowers in the remaining eight. As the sunflower crop neared harvest, she noticed birds like parrots and sparrows coming to eat the seeds.

Touched by the birds’ hunger, Sunita decided not to harvest the sunflower crop. She said that with the summer heat at its peak, the birds were regularly visiting her field for food and drinking water from nearby borewells.
