Residents across several areas in the Hyderabad metropolitan region will face a 36-hour disruption in drinking water supply starting from 6 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, and continuing until 6 PM on Sunday, January 11, 2026. The interruption is necessary to carry out critical repair works on the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Scheme Phase-2, which serves as a major water source for the city. The scheduled maintenance includes fixing a leak in the 200 mm diameter MS pipe on the pumping main from Kodandapur to Godakandla, replacing damaged 2375 mm diameter MS air tees and valves, conducting junction works at Nasarlapally, and replacing damaged butterfly valves and Non-Return Valves (NRVs) in various locations.
The water supply disruption will affect 12 major divisions across the metropolitan area. O&M Division-XI covering Vanasthalipuram and Autonagar, O&M Division-XIX under the Autonagar Reservoir, and O&M Division-X serving Vaishalinagar and Nagole will experience complete water supply interruption. Additionally, O&M Division-XX areas including Badangpet, Lenin Nagar, Adibatla, and regions under Kammaguda Reservoir will also be affected. O&M Division-VIII covering areas under Balapur Reservoir, Barkas, and Maisaram will face similar disruptions during the repair period.
Several other key residential and commercial zones will also experience water supply interruptions. O&M Division-XIV areas including Yellugutta Reservoir and Nacharam, and O&M Division-VII covering Tarnaka, Boudhanagar, Nallagutta, Lalapet, Marredpally, Prakashnagar, Patigadda, Mekalamandi, and Mahendra Hills Reservoir are on the affected list. O&M Division-V under Mekalamandi Reservoir, TD-III serving MES, Railways, and Secunderabad Cantonment Board, and O&M Division-IX covering Hashmatpet, Gauthamnagar, and Ferozguda will also face water supply cuts. Parts of O&M Division-XVI including Madhuban Reservoir, Shastripuram, and Prashasan Nagar will be partially affected, while O&M Division-I serving the National Police Academy will experience complete disruption.
The water supply authorities have requested consumers in all affected areas to use water judiciously during the repair period. Residents are advised to store adequate water in advance to manage their daily needs during the 36-hour maintenance window. The comprehensive repair works are essential to ensure the long-term efficiency and reliability of the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Scheme Phase-2, which plays a crucial role in meeting the water requirements of the Hyderabad metropolitan area.
