Hyderabad: On Monday, Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that the state government has finished building 71,000 houses.
In a meeting at the Secretariat, the Minister discussed the plan to construct 4.50 lakh Indiramma houses this year, costing Rs 22,500 crore. So far, 2.65 lakh beneficiaries have received sanction letters. Of the 71,000 houses, around 3,000 have reached the wall and slab stage.
Unfinished double-bedroom houses are being allocated to eligible individuals without house plots according to the Indiramma survey. The government has decided to shift from the current contractor model to the Beneficiary-led Construction (BLC) mode to complete these houses.
The Minister stated that 1.61 lakh incomplete houses have been finished, costing Rs 640 crore, and 98,000 beneficiaries have received them. Another 69,000 houses are still under construction and will be completed using the BLC mode. Officials have been instructed to quickly identify eligible beneficiaries and allocate these houses.
