The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana has caught several police officers red-handed while accepting bribes, despite stern warnings from Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy that uniform and corruption cannot coexist. The recent spate of arrests led by ACB Director General Charu Sinha has exposed corruption cases ranging from small amounts to lakhs of rupees across different districts of the state.

In one of the major operations, Inspector Kanakaiah and Sub-Inspector Siddeshwar from RGI Airport police station were caught accepting a bribe of ₹2 lakh. During the raid, ACB officials seized a staggering amount of ₹33.97 lakh in cash from the accused officers. This case has emerged as one of the most significant corruption busts involving police personnel in recent times.

The ACB teams have been conducting operations across multiple locations in Telangana. In Malkajgiri Cyber Crime station, Assistant Reserve Sub-Inspectors Pramod Goud and Babu Nayak were trapped while accepting ₹1 lakh as bribe. Similarly, Sub-Inspector Gandra Vinay from Madhapur was caught taking ₹50,000, while SI Vijay Kumar from Mulugu was nabbed in a similar trap involving the same amount.

DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy has issued strict instructions to all officers in the police department, from Home Guards to IPS officers, to serve with integrity, compassion, and accountability. In his statement, he acknowledged that while many officers uphold these values, the recent ACB actions serve as a reminder that any deviation will invite strict consequences. The DGP emphasized that the goal of Telangana Police remains clear: to be fair, firm, friendly, and professional.

Citizens of Telangana can report any corruption involving police or government officials by calling the toll-free number 1064. The ACB has urged the public to come forward with complaints to help maintain transparency and accountability in public service. The anti-corruption helpline operates round the clock to receive complaints from citizens across the state.
