A 27-year-old driver named Mainam Kumar has been sentenced to three years in prison by the Fast Track Special Court in Rangareddy District. He was found guilty under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Kumar, who lives in Old Nagole, was involved in a case registered at the Nagole police station.
The court found Kumar guilty of several serious charges, including stalking, molestation, and indecency towards a minor girl. The charges were based on sections 354-C (voyeurism), 354-D (stalking), and 507 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 12 of the POCSO Act.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered Kumar to pay a fine of Rs. 5,000. The court also awarded Rs. 1,00,000 as compensation to the victim, acknowledging the emotional trauma she had suffered.
This case highlights the commitment of the legal system to protect minors and ensure that crimes against them are dealt with seriously. The case was registered under Nagole Police Station (SC No. 223/2021).
