The Afghan Embassy in New Delhi has stated that there is no change in leadership despite a letter from the Taliban’s foreign ministry directing Mohammad Qadir Shah to take over as charge of the embassy. The embassy released a statement rejecting the claims of the Taliban-appointed official and accusing him of spreading misinformation. The embassy also thanked the Indian government for their consistent position of not recognizing the Taliban regime in Kabul. According to The Hindu, the dispute between the two became public after allegations of corruption were made against the existing ambassador and other officials. The Taliban regime has dismissed Afghan diplomats in Delhi 14 times in less than two years. The embassy hopes that Qadir Shah’s visa will be cancelled and he will be sent back.
