Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has urged officials to boost non-tax revenue efforts. On Sunday, he led a meeting at the Secretariat, joined by Ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. Bhatti highlighted the need to secure central funds and enhance non-tax income.
The government is introducing new welfare programs worth Rs 33,600 crore while continuing previous schemes. Bhatti pointed out that expected revenue from the Outer Ring Road and excise duties for the financial year 2023–24 fell short. He noted that some departments receive more budget than needed, while others lack funds.
Bhatti called for equal budget distribution among departments to reduce spending gaps. He emphasized completing key projects across constituencies based on importance. He advised that budget funds should match the state’s needs and priorities, focusing on revenue-generating sectors. Spending should be necessary and sensible.
Bhatti directed departments to align with public interest and welfare goals. He stressed that balanced development in all sectors is crucial for the state’s progress. He set a ten-day deadline for rationalizing budgets and preparing detailed plans.
Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Principal Secretary (Finance) Sandeep Kumar Sultania, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
