Hyderabad – The Telangana government is preparing for a grand and smooth celebration of Saraswati Pushkaralu, set to begin on May 14 at 10:35 PM, and continue for 12 days.
Endowments Minister Konda Surekha and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu reviewed the progress of arrangements at Triveni Sangamam near Kaleshwaram, where the sacred event will take place. They stressed the need for a clean, safe, and spiritually meaningful experience for the lakhs of devotees expected.
High-level officials, including Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, DGP Jitender, and Principal Secretaries Shailaja Ramaiyar (Endowments) and Vikas Raj (Transport & R&B), are coordinating efforts across departments to ensure everything is ready on time.
Drawing lessons from previous large-scale religious gatherings like Sammakka–Sarakka Jatara, Komuravelli Jatara, and Bhadrachalam festivities, the government plans to elevate Saraswati Pushkaralu to the same level of excellence.
The festival marks the sacred moment when Jupiter enters Mithuna Rashi, a rare celestial event believed to bless those who take holy dips in the Saraswati tributary of the Godavari River.
Ceremonial rituals will begin with spiritual leaders performing traditional baths. The official inauguration on May 15 and 16 will be led by Sri Guru Madanananda Saraswati from Rangampet and Sri Madhavananda Saraswati from Medak, adding a deep spiritual tone to the festival.
Minister Konda Surekha promised top-tier arrangements to ensure no devotee faces any trouble. “This is not just a religious event; it’s a celebration of culture, tradition, and public service,” she said.
To manage the huge turnout, bathing ghats are being expanded, and new ones are under construction. The government is setting up permanent toilets, clean drinking water stations, and waste disposal systems.
To make travel easier, extra TSRTC buses will run under a free transport scheme for pilgrims.
Authorities are also focusing on crowd safety and emergency care. There will be first-aid centers, medical teams on-site, and special areas for children, pregnant women, and elderly visitors.
To help pilgrims stay informed, the government has launched a dedicated Pushkaralu mobile app and website. These will offer live updates, maps of ghats, emergency contacts, and other useful information. A toll-free helpline is also available for public support.
With careful planning and strong coordination, the government aims to make Saraswati Pushkaralu a safe, spiritual, and unforgettable experience for all.
