Prashanth Singh, also known as Sonu Singh, a cow protection activist, was shot in Ghatkesar, sparking a political uproar in Telangana. Senior BJP leaders accused the Congress-led state government of failing to maintain law and order and favoring minority groups. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, visited Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad with BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dr. K. Laxman and other leaders to meet the injured activist and offered full support for his recovery.
Bandi Sanjay criticized the state police and government, demanding an apology from the State Director General of Police (DGP) and action against AIMIM leader Ibrahim, who allegedly fired a revolver. “Who provided Ibrahim with a revolver?” Sanjay questioned. “Why are police inactive when armed individuals are involved in illegal cattle trade? What is the government doing about this law and order breakdown?”
BJP leaders claimed that Prashanth Singh, known for rescuing over 2,000 cows from slaughter, was unfairly targeted while the accused received protection. They criticized false cases against cow protectors and urged the DGP to retract derogatory statements about Bajrang Dal activists. “This issue extends beyond one individual—it’s about safeguarding dharma and the belief of millions of Indians,” Sanjay asserted.
Dr. K. Laxman expressed similar concerns, pointing out an increase in violent crimes in Telangana. “Recently, over 500 murders have occurred. Gun culture is spreading, yet governance is absent,” he said, accusing ministers of being involved in controversies while neglecting public safety.
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy visited the hospital earlier and condemned the attack as “heinous and unacceptable.” He blamed the Congress government for promoting lawlessness and appeasement politics. “Criminal elements are thriving under this regime. The cow smuggling mafia operates unchecked, and those opposing it face violence,” Reddy said.
Despite strict laws against cow slaughter and illegal transport, BJP leaders alleged that police shield offenders and threaten activists. Reddy called for a thorough investigation and immediate arrest of the accused. “If the government neglects its duty, we are ready to intensify our fight,” he warned.
The BJP also condemned attacks on Hindu temples, including idol desecrations in Rampally and Secunderabad, labeling them as intentional provocations. “These actions are not random—they aim to incite unrest,” Sanjay stated.
Reiterating support for cow protection activists, BJP leaders pledged not to remain silent. “We firmly support those who defend dharma,” they declared.
