BJP Leader Demands Immediate Appointment of District Panchayat Officer

The BJP Jogulamba Gadwal district president, S. Ramachandra Reddy, held a press meeting at the party office in Ayija town. He urged the government to quickly appoint a new District Panchayat Officer (DPO).

Reddy explained that the previous DPO was suspended 15 days ago by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on corruption charges. Since then, the district has been without a key official, causing a halt in development work across 240 gram panchayats.

He also pointed out that the tenure of Gram Panchayat governing bodies ended 14 months ago. Since then, panchayat secretaries have been handling responsibilities. However, without a DPO, they are unable to approve and process important bills related to development projects.

The BJP leader expressed concern over the impact of the missing officer on sanitation and drinking water supply in villages. With summer approaching, the drinking water crisis is becoming more severe. Due to the absence of a DPO, mandal officials and panchayat secretaries cannot clear bills, causing development activities to stall.
