The Central government has sanctioned the construction of a 100-bed ESIC hospital at Raikunta village in Pedda Golkonda, Shamshabad mandal. The announcement was made by Union Minister of Coal & Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Labour & Employment cleared land acquisition worth ₹16.125 crore during the 197th ESIC meeting held last week. This approval marks a significant step toward improving healthcare infrastructure for industrial workers in the region.
Currently, Ranga Reddy district has over 1.32 lakh ESI-insured workers. With rapid industrialisation taking place around the Hyderabad airport at Shamshabad and across the district, the number of workers is expected to rise substantially in the coming years.
The decision to establish a new hospital stems from the growing need to provide adequate medical facilities to the expanding workforce. The area surrounding Shamshabad has witnessed large-scale industrial development, attracting numerous manufacturing units and service sector companies.
The new ESIC hospital at Raikunta will cater to the healthcare needs of thousands of workers employed in various industries across the region. The facility is expected to provide comprehensive medical services, including outpatient and inpatient care, emergency services, and specialized treatments.
The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) operates a social security scheme that provides medical and cash benefits to workers and their families. The establishment of this hospital will enhance the accessibility of quality healthcare services for insured workers in the district.
The location of the hospital in Pedda Golkonda has been strategically chosen to serve the industrial clusters developing around the airport area. This will ensure that workers have access to medical facilities within reasonable proximity to their workplaces.
The approval of land acquisition worth ₹16.125 crore indicates the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure for the working class. The project is expected to commence once the land acquisition process is completed.
According to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, the decision reflects the government’s focus on providing better healthcare facilities to workers contributing to the region’s industrial growth.
