ACB Catches Osmania University Engineer Red-Handed Taking Rs 6,000 Bribe

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has caught a deputy executive engineer from Osmania University red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000. The accused official had allegedly demanded a total of Rs 11,000 for clearing renovation bills.

Rakonda Srinivasulu, who works as Deputy Executive Engineer in the Building Division at Osmania University, was trapped by ACB officials during the bribery operation. The arrest took place after a complaint was filed against him for demanding illegal gratification.

According to ACB sources, Srinivasulu had demanded Rs 11,000 in total from a complainant for clearing renovation bills worth Rs 7.37 lakh. He had already received Rs 5,000 as advance payment before the ACB trap was laid.

The remaining amount of Rs 6,000 was being collected by the engineer when ACB officials caught him red-handed. The bribe was allegedly demanded to ensure smooth clearance of the bills and to guarantee that no obstacles would be created in future works.

The complainant, who was involved in renovation work at the university, approached the ACB after the engineer repeatedly demanded money for processing legitimate bills. The ACB officials verified the complaint and planned a trap operation.

During the operation, the currency notes were treated with special chemical powder as part of standard ACB procedure. When Srinivasulu accepted the Rs 6,000, ACB officials immediately moved in and caught him in the act.

The chemical test conducted on the accused’s hands reportedly showed positive results, confirming that he had handled the treated currency notes. This serves as crucial evidence in the corruption case.

The ACB has registered a case against the deputy executive engineer under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The investigation is currently underway to determine if there are other instances of corruption involving the accused official.

Officials are also examining whether Srinivasulu was involved in similar corrupt practices with other contractors and vendors working with the university. The probe will look into his financial transactions and work dealings over the past few months.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress to uncover the full extent of the corruption allegations against the accused engineer.
