Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and PCC President B Mahesh Kumar Goud plan to go to Delhi on June 4. Their agenda is to talk with the party leaders about expanding the Cabinet and organizing the PCC executive.
Recently, some Ministers were left out of the newly formed PCC’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC), which has stirred discussions. Rumors suggest that two or three Ministers might be replaced in the new Cabinet. This situation has caused uncertainty, with leaders from various communities vying for Cabinet positions. The current Cabinet includes four from the Reddy community, two each from BC and SCs, and one each from Brahmin, Kamma, Velama, and ST, making a total of 12 members, including the Chief Minister. As the decision is delayed, more legislators are pushing for their inclusion. Madiga MLAs have been actively seeking meetings with the AICC leaders, while BC legislators are also asserting their claims.
SC community MLAs have pointed out that the Health Minister Damodara Rajanarsimha is from a sub-caste (Mochi) and not from the Madiga community, challenging the perception of their representation in the Cabinet. The Chief Minister and Mahesh Goud were instructed to address this issue in Delhi by May 30, but the meeting was postponed to June 4.
On May 26, to calm the growing speculation, Mahesh Goud informed the media in Delhi that Rahul Gandhi has approved the Cabinet expansion proposal.
