Hyderabad: On Saturday, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy visited Hussain Sagar Lake to see the ongoing immersion of Ganesh idols. The event attracted a large crowd and many idols at Tank Bund, near the lake. To avoid congestion, Reddy arrived with only a few vehicles and minimal security instead of his usual convoy.
During his visit, he interacted with devotees to ensure they faced no difficulties during the immersion process. Wearing a saffron scarf adorned with a Ganesha image, he greeted the crowd from a temporary stage set up by the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti. He joined in the chant of “Ganpati Bappa Morya” but chose not to speak when given a microphone. An organizer noted that it was the first time a CM visited their platform.
Around 50,000 idols were anticipated to be immersed in Hussain Sagar Lake alone. The immersion, starting Saturday morning, was expected to last 40 hours. The government ensured all necessary arrangements, including security measures, were in place for a smooth process.
