Gadwal: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy conducted a video conference with ministers and top officials to discuss paddy procurement, seasonal changes, and government schemes. He met with district collectors to review progress.
The Chief Minister shared that the monsoon arrived 15 days early this year. Telangana has procured a record 64.5 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, completing 90% of the process. Farmers have received Rs. 12,184 crore so far. Reddy praised officials for making payments within 48 hours, a first in history.
Despite these successes, Reddy noted some politically motivated incidents and false information. He urged district collectors to actively communicate to counter misinformation and resolve small issues quickly. Collectors should hire local storage if needed and take action against millers or middlemen harassing farmers.
This season saw 29% more rainfall. The Chief Minister instructed agriculture officials to stay alert, provide enough seeds and fertilizers, and support smooth farming activities. He urged strict action against fake seed sellers, suggesting the use of the Preventive Detention Act if necessary.
For scheme implementation, CM Revanth emphasized that collectors need to visit fields regularly and appoint special officers for oversight. Awareness campaigns about the Bhoobharti land registration system should be increased, especially for poorer farmers. Revenue conferences will occur from June 3 to 20.
Highlighting the Indiramma Housing Scheme, CM Revanth said collectors play a key role in housing development success. He asked for Mandal-level price control committees to monitor costs, ensure timely sand coupon supply, and support loans for brick kilns. Field-level issues should be identified, and new technologies adopted in housing construction.
Ministers will tour their districts on May 29 and 30, with a report due by June 1. Telangana State Formation Day on June 2 should be celebrated grandly in all districts.
District Collector B.Y.M. Santosh announced that Jogulamba Gadwal district achieved record paddy procurement of 80,830 metric tonnes, a 2,697% increase from last year. He instructed officials to transport stored paddy to mills quickly, increase vehicles, and purchase moisture-compliant stock promptly.
He stressed the importance of providing quality seeds and fertilizers and directed agriculture officers to inspect fields and act against fake seed sellers. Tahsildars should speed up Bhoobharti applications and resolve land issues swiftly. The Collector urged officials to accelerate Indiramma Housing Scheme construction so beneficiaries can move in soon. Emphasis was placed on field visits to address grassroots issues.
Officials present included Additional Collectors Lakshminarayana and Narsinga Rao, RDO Srinivasa Rao, Civil Supplies Manager Vimala, and others.
