Nagarkurnool: District Collector Badavath Santosh has ordered a smooth and transparent paddy procurement process across the district. He stressed that millers must follow all government rules during loading and unloading operations.
On Friday, the Collector visited a paddy procurement center located at Nallavelli village, under Nagarkurnool Mandal. He was joined by Additional Collector Dev Sahayam and Tahsildar Tabitha Rani.
During the visit, the Collector checked the moisture levels of paddy brought by farmers. He also looked over the procurement registers and asked staff whether they were updating the data daily on the Online Procurement Management System (OPMS). He questioned if the moisture content was being tracked regularly and whether the grain was being sent to the mills without delay.
Officials at the center informed him that they were updating the OPMS on time and checking moisture levels every day. They said that once the paddy reached the required moisture level, it was weighed and sent to the rice mills immediately.
Collector Santosh reminded the staff that once paddy is procured, all details must be entered into the OPMS right away. This ensures that farmers receive their payments without delay. He also warned against leaving the grain exposed for long, especially during unexpected rains.
He emphasized that paddy should not be stored at the centers for more than a day after reaching the correct moisture content. It must be moved to the mills the same day.
The Collector also directed the Civil Supplies Department to monitor all centers daily. He warned that any form of harassment or negligence towards farmers would result in serious action. Registers at each center must be maintained accurately with details like date, farmer’s name, phone number, and procurement records.
Earlier in the day, Collector Santosh visited a rice mill. He checked the loading and unloading process, inspected the stock register, and gave suggestions to improve operational efficiency.
