Gadwal: In Jogulamba Gadwal District, the Collector, B.M. Santosh, announced that biometric attendance will be required for students living in government hostels starting August 16. This decision followed his surprise visit to several SC and BC welfare hostels in the district, including BC Hostel-B in Ganjipet.
During his visit, the Collector highlighted the importance of biometric attendance for monitoring student presence regularly. To understand the educational levels of students from 3rd to 10th grade, he conducted brief assessments. He advised hostel staff to arrange special classes to enhance the educational standards. Additionally, he emphasized that students should receive nutritious meals daily according to the set menu.
The Collector also inspected the kitchen, dining areas, and toilets, stressing the importance of maintaining cleanliness to avoid seasonal illnesses. He instructed that toilets and their surroundings should always be clean. Students should be housed separately based on their class levels instead of being grouped together. He ordered immediate repairs of doors and windows in the hostels.
Earlier, the Collector visited Priyadarshini Women’s Degree College, where he instructed engineering officials to reconstruct walls that were demolished for election purposes. He confirmed that funds have been allocated for this project and urged that the work be completed within 15 days.
During the college visit, the principal, Kalander Bhasha, and committee member Sai Shyam Reddy, requested the creation of a library, botanical garden, and hostel. The Collector promised to take the necessary steps to fulfill these needs.
Several officials accompanied the Collector during his inspection, including R&B EE Pragati, District BC Welfare Officer Ramesh Babu, SC Welfare Officers B. Saroj, Panchayati Raj EE Damodar Rao, and hostel wardens.
