Mulugu: District Collector Diwakar TS has instructed officials to take steps to reduce the number of accidents in the district. On Friday, he advised them to identify accident-prone areas and take preventive measures to ensure safety.
During a meeting held at the Collectorate, which was attended by officials including SP Sabharish, the Collector emphasized the need for various departments like the police, roads and buildings (R&B), excise, RTO, RTC, and others to work together to prevent road accidents.
The meeting highlighted that many accidents are occurring on National Highway 163. The Collector asked the police and R&B officials to inspect the “black spots” where accidents frequently happen and provide a report on the safety measures that need to be taken.
He mentioned that another meeting would be held in a month to review the roads in coordination with all departments to ensure that accidents are minimized. He stressed the importance of departments working together to save lives and prevent accidents caused by technical issues.
The Collector also suggested that barricades, dumbbell strips, and signboards should be installed to reduce vehicle speeds in dangerous areas. He assured that the police department is ready to coordinate with other departments to make sure not even a single life is lost due to accidents.
