Hyderabad: On Tuesday, the Congress party urged BJP‘s Backward Classes (BC) leaders to address remarks made by their new state president, N Ramchander Rao. Rao had criticized the Telangana government’s plan for a 42% reservation for BCs, calling it “unscientific.”
During a media briefing at Gandhi Bhavan, Congress spokesperson B Lingam Yadav insisted that if BJP MPs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, D Aravind, and Eatala Rajender do not respond, it would suggest that the BJP stands against Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and BCs.
Yadav emphasized that the Revanth Reddy government aims to implement reservations similar to the successful model in Tamil Nadu, which has managed reservation limits effectively.
“The BC leaders in BJP must reply,” Yadav urged. He stressed that if the 42% reservation isn’t implemented, BCs would face further marginalization. Yadav declared, “We will secure 42% reservation by pressuring the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” He pointed out that those opposing the reservation now previously supported “Kamandal politics” against the “Mandal Commission” recommendations.
